Hi Victor!
A warm warm welcome from your grandpa's land, Italy! I know you have Italian blood, and, as we say in Italy, blood doesn't lie! And then you are still very Young, minerlogy needs young people as well!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

Greetings all and well met. Karl I am. Born in Tampa, FL cir. 1960.
I LOVE looking for things, fossils, pretty rocks, driftwood... Finding is even better.
Cutting small slabs and grinding cabs is a passion as is making fine little things of wood.
I wrap as jewelry some of the lovely quartz i find along the banks of Douglas Lake (French Broad River post damming) around Dandridge, TN.
I have only a gnats eyelash knowledge of minerals but look forward to learning from all the fine people of this wonderful forum.
Please ask me anything. ... I'll make something up. ;)

Hi Karl, welcome to the Forum. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we do. I have an interest in the art of wire wrapping crystals (have not done too much of it yet) so, sometime I will send you a PM and we can share what we know. Best regards.

Good day all,
my name is James and minerals are a small hobby of mine. I think I have it after my grandfather who worked as a geologist. I am also known for being creative - I say, crazy - my girlfriend says.
I am here to learn new things, share what I know and have a good time.
Thanks for having me here,
James

Hi James!
Of course a warm warm welcome from Italy by another mineral collector! It's over 40 years since I started collecting minerals!
Greetings by Riccardo.

Hi,
I have found this forum few weeks ago and it seems to be the perfect place to share our interest about mineralogy. So here I am...
I have been looking for minerals for 10 years even if I had only poor results during the first five years. I am now more lucky.
I live in Provence (South of France) and try to collect minerals from this area. All mines are closed and most of them impossible to visit so it is a quite difficult hobby.
I don't think we have very famous localities (from people outside France) but you perhaps know l'Avellan or Fontsante which are the most famous.
Fontsante is probably the mine I find the most interesting, Spetacular specimens are rare but there is a incredible variety of shapes, colors...
So I will try to share some specimens from my area.
Mathieu

I agree to both of Jordi's points - welcome (from the UK) and nice fluorites. Any chance of some larger photos in the future, so we can see the detail?

Thanks everybody,
You're right these photos are too small, I will check it in my next post.
You can also have a look to my website for larger pictures but I did not manage to include a link? any solution?
And by the way, I would appreciate any comment to improve this website (php and mysql database). You can create an account to test functionalities. At least two problems : no link and French interface only.

Sure, you can / should read A general guide for using the Forum with some rules and tips specially the point 2:
2.-) If you want to add a link to a particular point within another Topic on the forum you can copy the link to the particular point of interest and include it in your text. To see how follow this link
The forum does allow you to type in direct links to web page on the following web sites: FMF, FMF Gallery, Mindat, WebMineral, Mineralienatlas.de, Strahlen.org, strahlenfoundation.com, RRUFF-IMA project, Mineralogical Record, Rock&Minerals, MTI, Minercat (Grupo Mineralógico Catalán), Minval (Societat Valenciana de Mineralogía), Wikipedia, Fabre Minerals, Minerales.info
For links to other web pages outside the forum you should use the same method when writing them as that used when adding email addresses.
For example: https://www.foro-minerales.com/forum/index.php, is a link within this forum so can be typed in directly, but had it been an external link you would have had to have added it as:
http(:)//www(.)foro(-)minerales(.)com/forum/index(.)php

Hi Mathieu!
A warm warm welcome from your neighbouring country and, as we call each other, your "cousin" country, Italy! Of course congratulations for the photos, but I already know France has many interesting mines!
Greetings by Riccardo.

Hi,
Thanks for this advice. I will have a look at this guide.
For the links to my website where you can see more pictures (and enlarge them)
https://collection.mineraux.free.fr/visite/galerie.php
https://collection.mineraux.free.fr/
(links normalized by FMF)
Once again, let me know (PM or anyway) if you have idea to improve it. It is supposed to be a way to manage a mineral collection and share some specimens on the web. My main difficulty is to take pictures of each specimen, let's say it will be an occupation when I am too old to play the crystal hunter...
Regards

Welcome to the Forum Mathieu.
You make a good point when you say photographing your collection will become your occupation when you are too old to go out collecting. However, I suggest you keep at it a little at a time, because, if you wait, it will become too daunting a task to undertake.
I visited your website and your photos are above average in quality, so you have a good start. Hope to see more of your collection in the future.
Regards,
Michael
