Not really, if it attracts regular iron then maybe iron. Many minerals attract magnets. Your test only shows an iron rich mineral and proves nothing. Starting with a mineral name is no way to id a sample either.

Hello Steveb

I am not sure that a lot of minerals attract magnets ! Anyhow from the color of the stone, my first thought was lodestone. If you have any recommendations you are welcome.

Below is an INcomplete list of common minerals that are 'magnetic'. Lodestone is itself magetic and will pick up iron pieces and NOT JUST be attracted to a magnet. However, you are going about identification the wrong way [as most do here when first asking for identification]. You need to find out hardness, specific gravity, do a scratch test, and find out if this object will pick up iron and not just be attracted to a magnet. Lodestones were used as the first compasses because of their natural magnetism.
Goethite
Greigite
Hematite
Ilmenite
Jacobsite
Kamacite
Maghemite
Magnetite
Pyrrhotite
Suessite
Taenite
