Nice Chinese specimens.
What I like the most is the sharp spinel twinned cinnabar.
Warm greetings.

Thank you for your kind words! The cinnabar is really a nice example, but of course can not stand against my first picture in this thread.

Hi, Volkmar.

Your first cinnabar is really "wonderful", but your last specimen is really "interesting"...

I would like to have them both in the collection but, having to choose, I'd opt for the latter.

Of course, this is only my personal taste or my point of view on collecting I've developed over the course of fifty years. :-)

A very warm greeting. Stay healthy.

Hello Sante,

I understand you very well. For me, both specimens are interesting, too. The first one has not only excellent aesthetics, but also interesting twins as well. The last one is different by its paragenesis. Therefore, I also like both!

Keep healthy!

I agree, Volkmar, really wonderful! Most aquamarines you see today, though often more spectacular, are from Pakistan, Namibia or Brazil - nice to see such a fine piece from this very old classic Russian locality (mining in that area started 300 years ago!).

And the specimen was once in the Harvard University collection! This makes it even more interesting and valuable! ( https://www.mindat.org/photo-238069.html )

Regards
Tobi

Thank you, Tobi! I'm glad you like it. And thanks for the information about the Harvard University, I didn't know that.

Stay healthy,

It was just by chance that I found out: When I saw your specimen I wanted to look at more specimens from that wonderful old locality. So I opened Mindat and saw your specimen on an old photo from Rock Currier with the information it was in the Harvard Collection ;-)

Where did you get the specimen from? Too bad that there was no information about that famous background.

At least now you know ;-)

Hello Tobi,

I bought it some years ago from Kevin Ward. I have his label, and attached was an older one. I don't know, from which collection the older label originates. Maybe, someone knows this kind of label, I would appreciate every hint!

No idea about the label, sorry Volkmar. Don't know how long ago you purchased it from Kevin but you could contact him, maybe he still has some records ...?

Good luck!
