PostPosted: Feb 17, 2024 14:58    Post subject: 60th Anniversary of the death of Sir Arthur Russell - Free talk and workshop

Saturday 24th February 2024 is the 60th Anniversary of the death of the legendary British mineralogist and collector Sir Arthur Russell. Many Mindat users will be familiar with Sir Arthur and some of you may be fortunate enough to own a specimen with one of his distinctive handwritten labels.

To mark the occasion, and as a bit of an experiment, I am planning to host a special free lecture and follow-on discussion workshop on Saturday 24 February. The event will start at 20:00 hrs GMT (12:00 noon Pacific Standard Time; 15:00 Eastern Standard Time; 21:00 Central European Standard Time) which hopefully will enable participation by a wide range of interested parties from the west coast of the USA right across to eastern Europe.

The presentation will take a look at Sir Arthur’s long life and his wonderful mineral collection, and also provide some insights into how to go about writing and publishing a book. Numbers are limited to 100 places on a first-come-first served basis.

The event will be run as a Zoom meeting and registered delegates will be able to interact with other participants (you will need to download and install Zoom before the event).

To book your place please send me a message via the contact page of my website - please include your name, email address and geographical location.

I will send out the login details / Zoom link to registered participants a few days prior to the event.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Roy
