PostPosted: Dec 16, 2009 05:46    Post subject: Facebook spam

I have discovered that spam is being circulated via facebook using my name so I have closed my facebook account. If any of you receive facebook messages in my name, they are not from me. Delete them. In all honesty I neve liked facebook from the start and I only opened an account because my family persuaded me to do so for the ease of sending lots of personal photos. The many annoyances of facebook far outweigh any advantages, in my opinion, and I shall not miss facebook one little bit.

John, I certainly understand. There's nothing wrong with picking up the phone or sending an email, or even a good old fashioned letter these days!
And there is always FMF! cheers!

John, your account is still active and was sending out spam this night (CET), perhaps it's good to login for the last time, then change your password in something like "Idonotlikefacebookanymore4772!" (something very long) and then ask Facebook to delete your account... the spammers must have managed to crack your password and are still using your account... Remember, a password shorter than 12 characters is very fast and easy to crack. For sure when there are no numbers and strange characters in the password. But if you add things like #*$&%& in your password, automatic password crackers have a much tougher-impossible job.
Good luck, cheers! Frank

It is too late, I closed out my account several days ago. I am not prepared to reopen the account and change the password. I trust the spammers will quit after a while.
