after you posted the link, I received a few e-mails directing me to this web page.
"How to spot a geologist" section is hilarious and so true. I probably have an anecdote for each bullet point.
My wife of 20 years and two sons were able to to point at me after reading each lines. They all remembered the time I "un-voluntarily' up-set the owner of a brand new very expensive kitchen trying to explain them that they did not have black granite counter tops (which they had to pay a premium for), it was a simple gabbro. Or having discussions with real-estate agents trying to sell us a house with a fabulous kitchen with granite counter tops that were actually a gneiss.
and yes I do own a holster for my hammer but I had to stop using it because I traded the whimpy geo pic for a 5 lbs sledge hammer.

Real ? But I could say the same about scientists I know who are not geologists ;-) And I'm sure I could be pointed out as well :-)
