Thanks for mentioning the "African Thumbnail Treasures" segment of the broader Afrika exhibit. Alex Schauss and I organized the thumbnail display, and one correction of your description is needed. All specimens were true thumbnails -- no toenails or miniatures. Therefore, all specimens in the exhibit can fit within a 1-inch (2.5 cm) cube. We were strict with the inclusion of only true thumbnails.

Fantastic photos, thank you so much to everybody, and especially to Ploum whose photos are just unbelievable.
As the people is downloading so good stuff, I will wait until Thursday to publish my thoughts as well as some complementary images to leave room to the FMFers to making us enjoy their pictures and comments...

I'm close a mental attack with the Frédéric (Ploum) images ;-)
Please note that he did them with the minerals inside the show cases (as it could be seen by the reflexes in some photos) and even with these bad conditions some photos of some specimens are better that some studio photos made by great photographers...

Thanks for setting me right! Obviously, some of these impressed me so much that over the course of a few hours, between looking at them and posting, they grew larger in my mind...
--And now Frédéric makes everything look even better. Great shots! I hope people will still come to visit next year's show and not be tempted to stay at home and wait for your posting! :)

Very impressive pictures Fred. Did you use a polarizer filter to eliminate the glare from the vitrines ?
