I ran across this today on the internet and thought I would like to share these fine pictures of salt mines across the world. Some are just too good to keep to myself.

Lovely photos, Mark.

They remind me of Oman. There are natural salt pans at Bar Al Hickman (small) and Shannah (large). A (relatively) short distance inland in the Huqf wilderness, halite casts can be found in Cambrian rocks of the Miqrat Formation.

Glad you liked them. I thought they were too good not to share. Whatever lives in those green layers is tougher than woodpecker lips.
