PostPosted: Sep 24, 2013 12:59    Post subject: Large smoky quartz/citrine crystals found in BC Canada

Hi my name is Herb Hyder, I have been prospecting for gemstones and minerals here in BC canada for the past 15 years. This year I made some amazing discoveries. This was the last find of the season. sadly it is snowing up in the mountains now so I will have to wait until next july before I can go searching for more. These are the biggest crystals I have ever found in my life and as far as I know the biggest to ever be found in BC canada. I found them near my aquamarine showing near Revelstoke BC canada. There are lots of pegmatites in the area that have cavities with smoky quartz crystals and black tourmaline and aquamarine as well as garnets and books of muscovite mica. when I first found this pegmatite I thought I was rich for I had hope the 3 foot by 2 foot cavity would have aquamarines. sadly all it had was smoky quartz/citrine crystals, but the good news is they are the biggest I have ever found. cant wait for the 2014 season to continue exploration

Well done Herb! As Vic said, your hard work has paid off. There will be more, and perhaps even bigger pockets in that area. Be careful who you tell.
