PostPosted: Dec 22, 2008 00:06    Post subject: Mystery Dark Mineral

Hello,

I am posting images of an unknown specimen, the images were sent to me by a contact. Unfortunately the location and origin of the piece is not known. Am aware that users of this forum prefer locality information but that information was lost after the passing of the contacts mother.

I am told the black crystals are bluish-black under bright light. The specimen is about 3 1/2
inches long and 1 3/4 inches long. Four images are included.

Many thanks for your help.

It is an Azurite. Maybe from Tsumeb?

Certainly looks like an azurite to me. Either Tsumeb or Morocco.
