Great to see the size.
It would be interesting to see this extracted and cleaned up!

vic: You appear to be attacking it with a steel bar. Why not leave it for others to appreciate?

Peter, this is not Victor.
It is a photo from Ron Coleman who is mining quartz in Arkansas. Hopefully they are not using a metal crowbar to extract the crystals as it would create plenty of small damage.
It is a professional mining operation where they recover large amounts of quartz crystals.
It is not likely theuy would leav this in place unless in one spot to show visitors.
Of course if this was on an open cliff in nature the best would be to leave it there for humanity, and not least kids to adore for generations to come until the next ice age or greedy newbie mineral collector.
Cheers
Peter

Right Peter, Colemans is a commercial quartz mining operation, a big hole and heavy equipment. In terms of leaving the crystals in situ, I think the extraction and distribution makes for a larger audience and greater appreciation. They also allow sport collecting for a fee. And Peter is right, that's not me. This time.

If that were Vic the whole thing would be reduced to rubble.

I see that the man with the crowbar has already filled two bags at his feet:-)

Bags of saw dust or sand, Pierre, to catch the loosened plates.

Sorry Vic, that was a joke. I know what the bags are for.

The pry bar exploits existing cracks and the sand bags catch the fragments gently. Again, Ron Colemans image.
