I have found these rocks in a river. I would like to know if you guys perhaps know what rock this is. I have searched online but could not find similarities.

Hi Rene!
Personal opinion: blue rocks = sodalite; green rocks = serpentine. Somebody has thrown them away, maybe he/she didn't know what to do with them.

Hi Riccardo,

Thank you for the info, very much appreciated. The river where I found them is dry. Only flows when it is raining season.

I have found red rocks with white linear streaks and some colorless steaks, pink - green mixture and rose quartz as well in the same river.

I wonder if there is maybe a source up river, only problem is further up river is private property.

Hi Rene, the blue rocks might also be Chalcedony, which is quite common in the Otjozondu area.

I did go back to the river today and found a little bigger rocks, but it seems to me that maybe there are mining operations higher up in the river as many of them are rugged with sharp edges. The river is about +- 25-30km long.

The blue rocks are a dark blue color under light.
