Don't be fooled James :)

there is nearly nothing for sale except the usual junk of polished stones.
If it is your aim to buy something, you may stay away.

The specimens I have photographed are not for sale but just displayed.

Hi Folks
I would not normally post a negative comment, but my honest assessment of this place is that it is pandering to coach parties and the very casual non-specialist visitor on a rainy day, with hardly anything to commend it.
Sadly, the labelling leaves much to be desired and is full of errors. I was completely unimpressed on my one and only visit some years ago.
To paraphrase Dr. Johnson - "Is it worth seeing?" "Aye - [possibly] worth seeing but not worth going to see!"

In the heart of Europe is a small state that is exceptional in many ways.
It has its "Latin Quarter", the Grund, located at the foot of the cliff that supports safes from around the world.
The Natur-Musee is exceptional. It is the safe dedicated to Nature in all its forms, from the squirrel to the Ukrainian heliodor, respectable in size and color (ex coll. Rostenne).
The place is remarkable and must be a destination and I believe the mineral collection is too (tell the curator of your arrival).
One of the last important acquisitions was the Jacques CASSEDANNE collection, a French mineralogist who spent his professional life in Brazil.

I am not fooled, but expect it to be as Roy says, badly labelled things aimed at the passing tourist coaches (I wonder how much they pay each coach to stop?). That plus some polished bits that will, I gather, 'bring you love'. I was going to drop in to see how bad it is!

The real reason I have for going to Corpach is that my family had a large estate there, and my grandmother used to visit it and stay overnight on the way to the big house at Roshven (before the railway was built, and when Roshven house was only accessible by boat or pony).

As promised, I went in yesterday on my way through the area. I think I got through in about 20 minutes and would not recommend visiting it.

Large specimens that are aimed at the passing tourists, badly labelled, and of little interest (to me). With the healy feely gift shop at the end. I took no more photos as we have enough already.
