PostPosted: Nov 13, 2023 11:38    Post subject: Le Burc?

Hi, looking for some expert opinions on this piece of Fluorite. It was a former Crystal Classics, sold as a French Fluorite. I've some some people tell me it's Le Burc, and some say it's Chinese. Someone recommended your forum as a place where I may find an expert on this. Thanks

I'm no expert on these, but the blue does not look right for Le Burc

We should keep in mind that there is no distinctive blue tone for this locality. Le Burg produced different fluorites in many shades of blue and green; and not all of them were of intense colour. That pale greenish-grey is not uncommon for the locality, rather typical, I have seen several Le Burg pieces with such a colour.

But to be honest, Chris, if there's no matrix, no associated minerals and no pedigree, I fear you won't find out for sure if it is from Le Burg or from somewhere else. Could also be from other French localities, from China, Spain, Germany ... many possibilites :-(

Regards
Tobi

Update: During my post you added a photo of the backside with some matrix. This may help and I hope someone here can tell you where the piece is from :-)

Thanks. I tried replying to him asking to see matrix but I don't quite have this site figured out yet.

Not Le Burc.

It closely resembles fluorite from the Xianghuapu Mine, Linwu, China.
