New York State: A Topographic Mineralogy by Steven C. Chamberlain, George W. Robinson and Susan M. Robinson.

Available as a FREE three-part download from mineral.hosta(at)gmail(dot)com

This work is the capstone publication for Steve Chamberlain and George Robinson written near the end of their careers. We prepared this document as a book, but its final size and the current high costs of printing have caused us to offer it as 3 downloadable pdf files instead. Request your free electronic copy at the above gmail address.

For each county all the localities with GPS coordinates are shown on a map. Other localities published in the earlier literature and/or represented by specimens in museum collections are listed after those with GPS coordinates to facilitate the continuing search for “lost” localities.

For each locality, the commonly used name is given with the geological setting, GPS coordinates, and a list of all reported minerals using the current nomenclature for species studied by the authors. For other species, the published names are given, including discredited names for those not studied in modern times. Lost localities are listed alphabetically after those with GPS coordinates. The most useful published references are given for each locality for which they exist. The text is illustrated with more than 500 captioned photographs and many sketches drawn by Susan Robinson. (St. Lawrence County is presented as townships because of the large number of localities in the county).

We encourage the widespread dissemination, use, and publication of the information in this work provided credit is given.
