The MAD group case was a highlight of the show. A few of my favorites are posted below.

Collector's Edge had some old rocks and some new rocks. These are ones that I would buy if my wife would let me mortgage the house.

I would like to encourage other people which attended Denver Show to add their own visions of the Show to this thread.

The Baryte from El'brusskiy Mine is just stunning, an almost unreal fine specimen. How big is that crystal?

Hi Tobias,
Based strictly on recollection, I would estimate the Baryte at about 4 to 4.5 cm tall. It is a stunning piece, and was, in my opinion, the nicest piece in the case.

A few more photos from the Denver Show! Some specimens that I particularly enjoyed seeing, follow. These first photos are of the very large wulfenite crystal, "perhaps the largest in the world", that John Attard had on display at his booth. It has been around since the 1960s, and a picture of it, by Rob Lavinsky, is posted on mindat too. Its mass is 1.8 kg. It was shown to me as a "guess what this is" and I must admit, it took me a good number of wrong guesses before I came up with wulfenite. John told me that Jaroslav Hyrsl, I believe it was, did identify it correctly right off.

Now, several views of a nice large, color-zoned (colorless to blue) topaz crystal recently found by a Denver area collector near Wigwam Creek, in the Pikes Peak batholith, Jefferson County, Colorado. It was found on the surface, a section of a cleaved crystal--the collector is still looking for the other portions. I recorded the carat weight but can't seem to find where I wrote it down--but as you can see from the scale (fingers), it is on the order of 5 cm across.

Another large and quite well formed (John White would never allow me to get by with saying, "euhedral"! topaz, this time from the Tarryall Mountains, Park County, Colorado. Collected by Jeff & Donna Self.

I enjoyed the colorful and very aesthetic calcites displayed in the Cincinnati Museum's case, by Terry Huizing.
