Any help in trying to identify the locality of the beryl crystals in the accompanying photographs would be appreciated. Over the years they have all been rescued from parcels of faceting rough. The blue ones look similar to the one from Jaqueta, Brazil from Granate's collection. The long thin yellow-green ones have open tubes running their length like straws, and apparently are from Brazil. For the more robust yellow-green ones I have no locality information.

I would say that both kind of Beryl could be from Jequitinhonha valley area. The blue ones maybe from Padre Paraiso and the yellow ones maybe from Pica Pau, but this is just a presumption.
Maybe Luiz Menezes, great expert in Brazilian minerals could help better...

Some good looking crystals there...looks like they could all benefit from a good cleaning though

| Wow..trying to identify single beryl crystals from a place where beryl is like leaves on trees...wow thats a hard one..I can only think it must be from one of the 1000+ pegamatites that have produced beryl not counting the alluvial, colluvial, and elluvial deposits which the blue ones look to be from..the yellow-green ones you might be able to nail down a good locale but vthe blues..it's all pure guess on those

I wish to thank everyone who tried to help me identify the origins of my beryl crystals. I suspected it might be a nearly impossible task.
Peter, yes they do need a good clean. I was surprised how grubby they looked in the photos.
Luiz, thank you for your expert opinion and the Extra Lapis reference. I am in no way arguing with you, but my camera's colour balance is not perfect and the "blue" crystals tend toward the greenish. The white balance also washes them out a bit, so they are more intensely coloured in reality. Anyway, hopefully it would be safe for me simply to say they are from Minas Gerais.
