Hi. I attend auctions on a regular basis and sometimes end up buying stuff quite different than my usual Pottery & Glass items. Last night I ended up with this box of "minerals"? I was hoping someone would offer some ID's on these pieces so I can properly list them. The first is this sliced 8" x 4" x 5". Can someone tell me what it is? Thanks so much!

Those are polished slices of agate - which is a variety of quartz.

No Robyn, I don't think it's from Botswana. I'm with Alfredo on this one. I thank there is a reference to this locality in the new AGATES II book. I'll check and get back to you (and this thread) later.
