PostPosted: Sep 26, 2012 10:58    Post subject: Hello everyone

My name is Lenny and I'm 16 years old. My dad and I collect fluorescent minerals from Franklin, NJ. We've been collecting for about 8 years. We took apart his office and made it a rock room. Unfortunately, I was unable to really appreciate it until last year. Of course, once I caught the rock bug my dad went in for a lumber fusion. So now we're expanding our collection by buying rocks. In a month or two were gonna start digging again. Well, I'm going to dig, he's going to lamp. My favorite rock is an Esperite and Hardystonite combo. I also have a small crystal collection that I plan on expanding.

Hi LennyL! Welcome to the forum!
You are very young and started collecting minerals when you were as old as myself when I did (i.e. I was 8 and one half, next year it's the 40th anniversary of my collection! You read well, FOURTIETH!!!). Mineralogy needs youngsters like yourself, you represent the future!!!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

Hi to you also, Lenny! I grew up in New Jersey myself, and some of my first collecting field trips, and first specimens, that I still very much treasure, were from Franklin. I first started recording my own field trips--how's this for going "back in time"--in 1966, so that makes, over 45 years ago! I was in college then. Best wishes to you, and wishing good luck and many good experiences in your mineral collecting, Pete
