Second painting for the year started. Poor i-phone photo added. It's a Colorado smoky quartz and amazonite.

Steve

Hi Gail. Fair way to go yet! I'm hoping to get back to it tonight before my enforced layoff. No painting, driving or computer for a few days.
Have you been doing any painting lately?
Regards
Steve

The finished article, although the colour in the photo doesn't quite match the actual painting. I will have to retake the photo in daylight later. Smoky Quartz and Microcline var. Amazonite from Smoky Hawk Mine, Jewel Pocket, Florissant, Teller County, Colorado. Based on a John Betts Fine Minerals photo, used with permission. Water-mixable oil on black card. Width of painted area is about 18.5cm.
Regards
Steve

I am a big fan of your paintings Steve, but you knocked it out of the park with this one. Fantastic job.

Hi, nice to see you painting again. It's a wonderful artwork.
I was painting 7 hours today (cerussit). I think, I could'nt have done it with only one eye.
Great respect, Steve.

Thanks Brunhild. And you too Michael.
Last night I started another painting and I have finished it tonight (with my eye half closed!). Today was another 40 degrees C so very uncomfortable. It is 11.30pm and the temperature inside the house is still 30.
Anyway, tomorrow I will photograph and post the new artwork. It will need daylight to get a good image. It is a Brazilian tourmaline...
Regards
Steve

We'll be happy to see your new artwork tomorrow.
I had to brush snow away today. Wish, I could send you some, Steve.

Hallo Steve,
to me it looks like crystal sea-water drops stucked on sticks.
Very well done.

Last night and tonight I painted a second Colorado amazonite and smoky quartz. This one is from the same mine as the previous one posted (Smoky Hawk claim, Crystal Peak area, Teller Co., Colorado, USA), but the amazonite is much bluer and the smoky quartz brown rather than black. Interesting how the two forms can occur so close to one another. Rob Lavinsky specimen, painted with permission. Water-mixable oil on black card.
