PostPosted: Jul 23, 2013 15:35    Post subject: New beryl locality discovered in BC Canada

Hi My name is Herb Hyder, I have been prospecting for gemstones here in BC Canada for over 15 years now. I just found a new site to find aquamarines and green beryls in BC canada. The pegmatite is running through calc siliciate rock with chrome diopsides so I need to get these beryls tested for chromium content to see if they are emeralds. Very exciting to find. The pegmatite has cavities with smoky quartz crystals and feldspar crystals. some of the beryls are very gemmy. so far I have only found weathered material, hope to get back there in a few days to do more exploration. I have found 2 other pegmatites close by with cavities with smoky quartz crystals, lots of potential in the area

Hi Herb,

nice one for posting this information about your discoveries; I looked at your previous threads as well and was impressed. Looks like you do the sort of things I do, though with more effort ! It must be pretty cool to be able to find a deposit and stake a claim - if only we could do that in the UK - the mind boogles...

Thanks again for sharing : )

Good luck, Mike
