Doubly terminated hexagonal hanksite crystal from the type locality. The crystal is somewhat translucent and fluoresces pale yellow under SW UV illumination. I wish I had photographed this crystal in its pristine condition when I acquired it 25 years ago, as it has deteriorated significantly in spite of keeping it coated with mineral oil. |

Thanks for your comments on the artinite Pierre. It is in remarkably damage-free condition. It's my understanding that when a pocket is encountered, the specimens can usually be pried from the surrounding serpentinite matrix without too much trouble and they don't need much in the way of cleaning. Wrapping and transportation is a whole other story, and is a testament to the collectors and dealers who handle this stuff.

Thanks Bob. Several dealers had Iranian specimens at Tucson. Crystal Classics had nearly a dozen flats of material including wulfenites, cerussites, mimetites, and some pretty cool descloizite pseudomorphs.
