I agree with Am Bob! As for the Tellurium, I see a man's head in the picture :-)

Thanks all. This was my payment for doing some consulting work in 1994 on the initial open-pit project at the Red Cloud. I can be found on street corners with a cardboard sign advertising my "will work for rocks" program.

PostPosted: Mar 17, 2015 22:33    Post subject: Bob's rocks - Rhodonite from Huanggang

...

GW001361.JPG
 Mineral: Rhodonite with Tremolite
 Locality:
Chaobuleng Mine, East Ujimqin Banner (Dongwu Qi), Xilin Gol League (Xilinguole Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
 Dimensions: 130 x 68 x 58 mm
 Description:
Lustrous, flattened blades of Rhodonite form a large subparallel, seemingly doubly-terminated group measuring 130 x 55 x 36 mm, accompanied by a similar perpendicular group that is cleaved on the base. The Rhodonite is mostly opaque and light-pink colored, with portions that are gemmy and cherry-red. Light-brown Tremolite (confirmed by analysis) coats portions of the specimen. Although there is some damage, it is masked by the ragged crystal terminations. This is a nice and large piece from this prolific Chinese locality.

PostPosted: Mar 19, 2015 18:51    Post subject: Bob's rocks - Schorl, Plumas Co., California

...

GW001630.JPG
Mineral: Schorl with Muscovite and Quartz
 Locality:
Mount Thompson Gem Mine, Mount Thompson, Milford, Lassen County, California, USA
 Dimensions: 65 x 47 x 34 mm
 Description:
Classic specimen of lustrous, black, tapered clusters of Schorl tourmaline to 45 x 7 mm are crowned with rosettes of silvery Muscovite crystals. A water-clear, lustrous Quartz point measuring 15 mm, intergrown with Schorl, is nestled in the Muscovite. In perfect condition, this is from the A.G. Boynton collection, circa 1910-1940. Boynton was a mining engineer and assembled a nice collection of rare specimens from the localities of that period. ex. Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas collection.

Very interesting association with the rhodonite and tremolite specimen. I've never seen this combination before.
