Although foitite and schorl cannot be told apart without analytical methods, I will have to assume that this is foitite since the specimen was part of Dr. David London's Collection, and he is considered a pegmatite expert. |

Each of the specimens in my collection is accompanied by a numbered label identifying the species and location. About a year ago I began the process of attaching a corresponding number to the mineral. In spite of this being a huge undertaking with several thousand specimens to complete, it has been both an interesting and enjoyable project. Some of the specimens have been hidden away for quite a while and it has been fun to reacquaint myself with them. I've also had a chance to think about the people that once owned or collected them, many who are no longer with us. I came across the following two pieces this morning and thought I would share them here.
