I collected the specimen in Mexico in 1992, prepared it by exposing the garnets, sold it to Dennis Beals, who then sold it to the Pohl collection in about 1995. The photo represents the piece when I sold it, and Dennis did more work on it prior to the sale. I have always wanted to see what it finally looked like. |

Ok. now I got it ;-) I'm sorry, but I don't remember any Sierra de Cruces garnet on display in Freiberg. Don't forget that the Pohl-Ströher collection includes 80,000 specimens, so I suppose your garnet is somewhere in the giant archives in Freudenstein Castle and didn't make it into to the best of the best of the best show collection :-( |

| What a feast of European classics!!! Two of my favorites are the cerussite on anglesite from Morocco and the clear blue apatite from Russia. I was going to pick a couple of German silver sulfides/sulfosalts but the list got too long. |

I hope that my obsession with minerals will be enough to make him "one of us" when he's old enough. Unfortunately he is too young and he won't remember that he visited one of the world's best mineral collections ... hm, a reason for me to return to Freiberg in a few years ;-)
