I tried using my Parallels and it said it was unable to use the program. It gave me a form to tell them what the problem happened, but said I would not receive a reply.
The only other time I tried Parallels was for a game, and it said I lacked a graphics module. Could that be the problem? |

Have you ever tried using VMware Fusion? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Fusion |

Well, I think the problem is that I have a new version of MacOS. I will find out.
Parallels error messages are...well, they leave something to be desired.
If this doesn't work, I'll try the other one. |

On second thought, I think I will just use Numbers...I don't have my verification code for Parallels after a couple years, and another program would be costly and may have problems too. |

Well, people, I found the code and it is not accepted by Parallels.
Fusion is ~$80, which is more than my guardian is likely to let me spend in one blow.
Thank you for trying to help me, but I will just use Numbers for now. |

Tom,
Have you considered using Mindat as a catalog option? It is free and I believe it is compatible with Apple computers. |

Of course, it's free (under some conditions) and fully compatible with all operating systems. And you can access your files from all over the world 24/7. However, note that your data do not reside on your device but in another's computer in an unknown place and under the control of other people. So it might be snooped and even lost forever. This is the big lie of cloud computing that is so in vogue nowadays. Such cloud simply does not exist. There are clouds only up in the sky. |

Hello Tom,
If you need to run a Windows program on Mac OS, you can make a try at Wine. This is what I use when I want to do the same on Linux. However, be aware that not all Windows programs work flawlessly. But at least Wine is free. Here is the link if you want to make a try : https://www.winehq.org/

Thank you very much. I have just downloaded your software. I have been meaning to catalogue my collection for a while now and it's great that you have provided such a useful, user friendly format for people to use. I have over 150 mineral specimens and I'm glad I found this before my collection spiraled out of control! |
