The blue Barytes from the Moscona are nice - there was a huge one in the Smithsonian which may well still be there

I have never seen Acanthite from Bouismas. From the photo, it appears that the crystals are perhaps Silver, possibly coated by Arsenopyrite or Löllingite, but the main crystals do not seem to me to be Acanthite.

I can only give the location as represented by the seller but I agree that the Imiter mine is more likely for this piece if it is acanthite. Having said that, I will be taking the specimen to our local university for analysis in the next few weeks and will post the results. As a Moroccan specimen, I would defer to your asessment and you can make whatever changes you feel necessary in the posting. I've just returned from Tucson and have been processing specimens for the last few weeks, I haven't had the time to to fully vet each one. My apologies for the misinformation.

No fault lies with you at all and If, as I suspect, it's a finely crystallized Silver, congratulations! it's much better than a 'common' Acanthite.
There's no doubt the piece is from Bouismas; the etched Calcite is very significant.

Thank you Jordi, much appreciated. You can change the mineral name to silver if you wish, pending the final outcome.

An oddity that I purchased recently.
Mineral: | Pyrite coated by Molybdenite |
Locality: | Rico Claims, Grayback District (Russell District), Costilla County, Colorado, USA | |
|
Dimensions: | 6.5x4.5x2.5 cm's |
Description: |
I purchased this piece as an oddity with hopes of getting some clarification at a later date. It is a cluster of pyrite crystals with a silver coating of what is purported to be "bravoite" (FeNi)S2.There appears to be some controversy with the specimens from this particular locality and I haven't been able to fully determine if the coating is actually just a coating such as galena. |
