I have been looking through photos and picking out those that are less than optimal. I re-shot this specimen yesterday. It's one of my favorite Tri-State specimens.

Very nice cluster of {100}{111} crystals of galena, Michael. The Tri-State District has been a classic locality of that species for a long time. Congrats!

Thanks you Carles. A classic locality for sure. The Ballard Mine was part of the Picher Field, considered the richest field in the Tri-State District. The mine was active from 1951 to 1969 and was a prolific specimen producer. Note the huge waste piles in the photo. Baxter Springs has a nice little museum that tells the history of the mines with many photos and artifacts from the district. This specimen was mined in the mid 1950s and was handled by New York mineral dealer Martin Erhmann.
