#MVM (Minerals - Virtual Museum) / more information about the piece with this link
Mineral: | Wittichenite |
Locality: | Cattle Grid deposit (Mount Gunson), Mount Gunson Copper mines, Pernatty Lagoon, Stuart Shelf, South Australia, Australia
|
Dimensions: | 3.2 × 2.4 × 0.8 cm |
Description: |
Extraordinarily shiny floater crystal of Wittichenite with complex polycrystalline growths dominated by finely striated prism faces and smoother bipyramid faces. The specimen was part of the lucky find in 1981 from which only a few crystals were recovered, since then considered "icons" as they are the best known for the species. The sample has been noted and photographed in the article 'Wittichenite from the Cattle Grid Pit, Mount Gunson mine, South Australia' of the ‘Mineralogical Record‘ magazine on page 140 in the volume 44, number 2, March-April 2013, and published in the Russian magazine ‘Mineral Observer’ on page 87 in the volume 26/2021, number 1 |

Mineral: | Sphalerite |
Locality: | Áliva Mine (Las Mánforas Mine), Áliva mining area, Camaleño, Comarca Liébana, Cantabria, Spain
|
Dimensions: | 9.6 × 4.4 × 3.4 cm |
Description: |
The color and luster are amazing. Although not on matrix, due to its transparency, intensity of color, and good crystal definition, it deserves to be considered an important piece. From the Jordi Fabre collection, it was bought from the historic Andrés Puente in 1979. Andrés was the one who had the best Áliva pieces at that time. The specimen has been photographed and published in the magazine Paragénesis, number 01/2022, page 74 |
