I have a specimen with small, highly iridescent chalcopyrite crystals from Reynolds Co., Missouri. The dealer who sold the specimen said the iridescence was natural. Is that likely to be true? | |

Looks more complicated than a simple hisingerite replacement of ilvaite. Hisingerite normally looks like brown beer bottle glass and generally forms as an alteration of pyrite.

Hisingerite pseudomorphs after ilvaite are well known from Dalnegorsk and are cited in Bernard and Hyrsl.
