The black and white specimen may be slag but I doubt it.
As previously mentioned, try scratching the white and the black with the point of a knife. Does that test result in a groove in the white? D ... |

How about a pic of the opposite side of specimen?
If it is reddish brown, then possibly the shiny surface is desert varnish, a result of manganese deposition on exposed surface. |
