Thanks. I've seen references to both of the quarries in MN & AL, but not much luck tracking anything down from them.

Not sure of the origin, although that's a possibility. The location that I was given is Laie Quarry, Oahu, Hawaii.

I suppose modern calcite from a shell would count. I do have a belemnite that has been replaced with calcite from Delaware, so a fossil certainly could qualify. Amazingly, it was fairly easy to get a ...
