I think it would be more rewarding to break it in half, rather than cut it. The freshly broken surfaces might show cubes of Pyrite sticking out. If it was cut, there would be patches of gold colour ...

Definitely a sandstone. At certain times during its formation the rivers feeding into the zone of sedimentation were carrying a lot more mica flakes than usual. Maybe call it a micaceous sandstone

These slender quartz crystals have a covering of brown/ginger crystals which I think are siderite. Do you agree? If not have you another suggestion? Sorry the focus isn't better.

How ought I to describe these calcite crystals. They appear to be of two Nail Head Spar (flat rhombohedron) termionations, end to end with no prism faces associated with them.
