My first guess was a pseudomorph of ferberite or hubnerite after scheelite from Trumbull, CT. Ron Januzzi had a big collection of these at his old rock shop near Brewster, NY, back in the 1980s.

I'd like to pose the question: Is the "quest" for minerals (whether self-collected or purchased) more of a passion than actually getting more specimens? Do deer hunters find more pleasure ...

If you determine where you want to go, make sure you ask the property owner permission to access his land. Trespassing while searching for minerals is what has closed a lot of localities for collect ...

Have you cleaned it at all yet? I would say start with soap and water and a plastic scrub brush. I would not use a copper cleaner on it, since that will remove the naturally weathered patina.

So far, there is no incidence, locally, of anyone with the COVID-19 virus in our area. We live in northern New York State, on the edge of the St. Lawrence river. Many cars with Ontario license plat ...

I think your apatite crystal is from the Cerro de Mercado mine in Durango, Mexico. See: https://www.mindat.org/locentries.php?p=2316&m=29229.

Cr-rich tremolite has a much brighter green color, almost like someone soaked the crystals in creme de menthe liqueur. Look up "Cr-tremolite, Washburn farm, Macomb, NY" on Mindat or even & ...

The specimen of tremolite crystals does not look as though it had chromium in it, since the green is not the right color. The only places that have produced Cr-tremolite in St. Lawrence Co. are the ...
