This looks more like a cobble of Calcite or possibly gypsum rather than Quartz. See if you can scratch it using a pocket knife or nail. | |

Maybe the label wasn't wrong for this specimen being from North Carolina? Chunky Gal Mountain, Clay County NC seems to be a possible location for this specimen assuming the green minerals could be Act ... | |

You can get a free trial of just about any editing programs including full blown Photoshop. So I would try out a few and see which you like, but my suggestion would be Photoshop and or lightroom. | |

Duncan, your pentax should have a manual white balance setting where you can adjust the temperature in kelvins. Try starting at 5-6k and adjust up or down as needed. Might save some time/frustration I ... | |
