I need help in some of the ID's. I will include a photos below but photo quality is not good. I think there is a nice wulfenite piece as this seems to be common from that locale.
Thanks,
Jim

Second photo is a Gypsum (Selenite), third photo is a Wulfenite from Los Lamentos Chihuahua, and the first one looks to me as a Calcite but I'm not totally sure.

I agree with Jordi on all of them.

Thank you on the fast reply. You're the best. I will try and post a couple of other samples as now I am curious as to what I am looking at. I will try a couple of other angles of the unkown sample.

Thanks Alfredo. I did not realize that the ojuela mine is so reknowned. I travel in that region on a yearly basis. However, it looks as though some of the samples are brought in for the tourist trade. I can't remember which samples I bought at the local rock shop and which I bought from the guy on the burro outside the mine entrance, but it seems as though you experts can tell the locale from the mineral. I will reseaerch Los Lomentos.

The mineral of the photo: "Rocks and Karl #2-10.jpg" looks like a poor Adamite and the specimen of the photos "Rocks and Karl #2-40.jpg" looks like a Calcite scalenohedrons recovered by some other mineral, maybe Hematite or maybe a second generation of Calcite, hard to tell you by these dark photos.

Unless age has diminished my memory ( very likely), the Ojuela mine produced some of these bi-colored wulfenites, so I wouldn't discount the possibility that the specimen came from the Ojuela, like the others.... it does not look like a Los Lamentos specimen to me....

Tony's memory is not gone! Mapimi did produce wulfenites like look like those pictured. It would be easier to tell if the photos were a bit brighter. If they have mottramite they definitely are from Mapimi.

Gentlemen: The selenite is from the Platosa Mine just east of Ojuela...try putting a UV light on it to see if it has a fluorescent phantom in it...many from here do.
The wulfenite is from the Cumbres Orebody at Ojuela...I have handled several large lots of this over the years...teh color and sandwich zoning are typical
The adamite is indeed a poor specimen from Ojuela...there are tons of this stuff out there
The "unknown" looks like a "dogtooth" calcite probably from Santa Eulalia...not sure what the greenish coloring is...is this under UV? Many of the dogtooths are partially encrusted with selenite which sometimes has uranium minerals in it that will fluoresce yellow-green
Suerte

Thanks Peter, after your opinion I change my thought and I agree that the Wulfenite should be from Ojuela. Anyway, if jwoll upload a brighter picture, still better.

You guys are the best! I will head out to ojuela for sure next time I am in Gomez Palacio. I haven't been to the mine for years since they replaced the bridge. I will get better pictures for you guys, perhaps using my closeup rings. I will also try to find a UV light and a Geiger counter.
Thanks, Jim

The bridge is a regional tourist attraction these days...and they will take you underground for a modest fee...be prepared to shoot pictures underground. The mineral business is VERY slow there these days, but if you ask around town you might get lucky. If you're a micromineral collector the dumps are fantastic!
