...Note, all dealers rooms are closed during the lectures, always. It is great to see the dealers enjoy the symposium and get to chat with all of us.

Thanks for putting up these pictures Gail. Very useful for those of us that can't travel very often for mineral related activities.

I wonder if there is a way to get hold of Van King to see if he'd let me see his slides. I have a fluorescent tourmaline that is reputed to be from Afghanistan, and I've been seeking to learn more about it.

Hi Matt, I am sure you can find Van's info on line. I don't have it myself, but he is also a regular poster on Mindat, you might PM him there also.
( Private Message for those who don't know what PM means. )

One of the reasons that I, painstakingly, put photos and write ups out into the internet world is to entice people to shows so they can enjoy meeting other like-minded people. There is a warm camaraderie out there, and the internet often keeps us from remembering that.

Alright, off my soapbox and on with more photos as I sip my hot chocolate....

The one thing that I want to show about this event is the great ability to learn many things from the experts. Steve and Helen Chamberlain put on a top notch symposium and you can see how it made it to the 36th event. I believe Bill Pinch started it all those years ago and, eventually, Steve and Helen started to run it. I loved the Canadians and the local folks who had amazing minerals from their areas. The really fun auction they did on Saturday evening....photos to follow from that.
Oh my, and the bowling beer cans with topaz crystals....

Ah, Saturday. I was a bit nervous, had been up late putting the fnal touches on my presentation entitled Women and Minerals, the untapped market.
I had been adding last minute photos of the ladies I met at the symposium, to add a personal touch to my power point.
All went well, I was fine after a minute or so and calmed down and had fun in my talk.
It was well received and made a point that many dealers talked to me about after.

The various presentations were wonderful all during the day, and then the fun began with the evening auction. This was at dinner, and it was a really fun time.
