Given my limited living space and budget, micros would be about the only way I could go into collecting. Anybody have advice on where to look? If the sponsoring dealer of this site does not offer them, it would not hurt to tell me of a competitor, since I would not be using him anyway. |

As you can read in the rules of FMF, this is a non-commercial forum. Such kind of questions or topics or any form of publicity are not allowed here:
5.-) We do not allow any form of publicity on these pages, or links to any other web pages that are not related to the theme being discussed or the aims of the forum. This is not a commercial forum, so the sale of minerals is not allowed.
Thank you. _________________ Pablo Rodríguez Cantos

Tom,
Jordi does not offer microminerals as a class of specimens - perhaps an occasional very rare one that happens to be in that size range.
I think the term "sponsoring dealer" is inappropriate and misleading. The forum has nothing to do with buying and selling specimens, and offers to buy or sell are not allowed by anyone, including the "sponsor", as are requests about how much your specimen is worth. I don't know to what extent Jordi provides financial support for this website, but to whatever extent, he does so from his interest in minerals and in the exchange of information about them, and not from monetary interests.
You said "Anybody have advice on where to look? If the sponsoring dealer of this site does not offer them, it would not hurt to tell me of a competitor, since I would not be using him anyway." I could tell you of some resources, but given this attitude, I will choose not to do so. Being affiliated with this site, you would probably not accept my leads anyway.
I suggest you get out your search engine and your mouse, and see what you can find on your own. Then you can make some purchases on your own and see on your own whether you have used your own good judgement or not.
You could also look for local clubs where you might learn some of the things you seem to wish you knew. _________________ Collecting and studying crystals with interesting habits, twinning, and epitaxy |
