Sorry Don, I'm afraid is Chrysocolla. I did the corresponding analysis of these samples and even spoke with representatives of the University of Arizona from where theoretically came the classification as "Ajoite", and is not Ajoite but Chrysocolla.
You can find more info in this Mindat's thread: https://www.mindat.org/mesg-11-377662.html

Tobi wrote: | Don Lum wrote: | Tobi wrote: | By the way, for those who are interested but don't speak German: Bergmännisch Glück means miner's luck :-) | Thanks for your comment, Tobi. From what I understand, it is an historic mine dating back to the 1700's which has had some recent collecting activity. | I don't have any reliable source for that certain locality, but the first mining activities (for silver) around Frohnau started in the late 15th century. And yes, there were some beautiful new fluorite finds during our century (a very good one in 2008), I think the most recent ones were in 2014.
Here's a picture of a fluorite specimen with colour-zoning from that locality from my collection: |
Hello Tobi,
I really like your Fluorite specimen. It has beautiful color zoning, but your photograph captures much more than that. The crystal face has a very interesting surface. If I am not mistaken your picture illustrates what I believe is an example of what Dr. John Rakovan terms 2-dimensional nucleation and spread of atoms and molecules to form crystal faces layer by layer. He gave a wonderful presentation at the 2016 Dallas Symposium recorded by Blue Cap Productions.
Regards,
Don

Hello,
the mines on the Bergmännisch Glück Flacher vein are very old indeed. However, fluorites are mined there until that very day;-) There are small finds in pockets every two or three weeks.
The somehow problem is the correct name of the mine. Hence it´s a kind of cluster of old mines there. Many small mines (Bergmännisch Glück, Inseltschacht Fundgrube and others) were later consolidated and some of those reopened in the WISMUT-era. You never know where exactly each fluorite pocket was mined because it´s never well documented... Fluorite, Bergmännisch Glück Flacher, Frohnau - that´s it.
These yellow crystals in your collection, Don, i think these were mined in 2015 or 2016. There was a bigger find of dark yellow crystals, most of the specimens made it to the US (but didn´t sell that good, however...).
Best regards
Andreas
