PostPosted: Nov 01, 2017 16:00    Post subject: Mineral Identification Request - Scottish Highlands

As I was hiking in the Scottish Highlands - Glencoe to be specific. I came across some quartz and as I broke it up with a larger rock, the dark green mineral was revealed and I am curious to know what it might be.

Can anyone help me to identify it?

Looks like epidote to me as well, and it's found in that area too

Epidote for sure. The pink variety, withamite, can also be found in Glencoe.

That's a pretty nice epidote spray, for something bashed open on a hike with another rock! High tech collecting!

Can you provide grid reference so the locality can be added to the data base.
