Got some macros of pieces I've collected myself only. Iphone 4 with loupe as macro lens so don't judge me haha! I think they came out nicely. Most pieces are calcite or fluorite from Columbus, Ohio rock dumps from quarries. I also have a lucky find from my birth state of New Mexico, at the Bingham Mine. Two other finds came from Mexico and Morocco while on vacations.

Hi Oliver,
The first three Alum Creek fluorites look like calcite to me. Hard to tell from the photos, but the first one appears to have rhombohedral cleavage; second looks like a complex parallel growth of calcite scalenohedra; third is hard to decipher but may be a "nail head" calcite crystal.

OLIVER, I agree with BOB C. I would not be surprised if all your Alum Creek "fluorites" turned out to be calcite. Small calcites can occasionally cleave giving an impression of being a small fluorite crystal; I am just not sure on some of yours. And if it comes from the bike path, it would be fill from another (quarry?) locality.
I would like to see a picture or 2 of the whole specimen of your quartz photo showing the "scepter". That seems very unusual for that locality.
