VIC,
Now that the 2019 East Coast Show is over, I suggest giving us a review. How was the attendance, the displays, the dealer sales, etc. Was there anything new that caught your attention. What did the show goers and dealers have to say.
Anything about the general health of the collecting hobby that is worth discussing??? BOB

Solid attendance numbers were not available as of Sunday. The staff is going thru a change, and Regina Aumente, the absolute foundation of the staff, is retiring. You can't go wrong when the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources Museum bring together fifty display cases of the finest pieces under their curation. These exhibiters go thru considerable stress to transport and handle the hundreds of specimens they do, flawlessly. As does the maestro, Dave Bunk. I hope everyone had a good show, my small, informal poll was general satisfaction with sales, average to better. I'm sure I will be schooled differently. The show layout went thru changes as well as the staff and wholesale was moved to an new building, confusing dealers and the public. Some details could have been handled differently, and we will be schooled on that as well. Always new stuff, never disappointed. See the meager coverage below. From my experience the state of collecting is strong, every level, every price range and quality is presented for your perusal, and the youth has a large presence at this show. I'm the positive type, so you'll understand that I see positive trends, even though they may be a product of a fevered mind. I'll drop it there.

The dealer displays this year seemed very well arranged and impressive. I think the show is getting better and hope dealers have patience with the changes. |

The exhibit, I will post it in installments, and the quality of the specimens is not represented well by the images.

Vic: I trust that you want to mention that these photos are the work of your wife Cindy. Correct me if I am wrong.

That's true John, I was creative director. She told me to say that. Every time I use a camera, it's like the first time. I couldn't do it without her. She told me to say that, too. She's standing right behind me as I reply.

Nice job, Pards! By the way, Cindy is allowed to visit the rolling bar any time, Vic, but you probably already knew that. The whoop it up organization (me) is investing in new bag chairs as well for our aging group--ha! Prepping for Denver to put fun back into the social side of all things mineral, and I hope you guys come on out so I can say thanks for your hard work!

I knew that Tony, thanks for the reminder. Did you roll in to the Inn Suites in 2019? Somehow I missed the wagon.
