PostPosted: Jul 18, 2020 14:20    Post subject: Popular Minerals - Calcite from the Bigrigg Mine, England

Druse of complex Calcite crystals with dominant scalenohedron faces and with reddish inclusions of Hematite. An English classic, really old and with a complex pedigree, with two labels that detail much of its history. It came from the collection of Francis Butler, who in 1890 sold it to the British Museum in London, which gave it the collection number BM65723, after which it passed on to the Leif Engman collection.

PostPosted: Aug 05, 2020 16:56    Post subject: Popular Minerals - Fluorapatite from Panasqueira, Portugal

The upper levels of the great classic mine of Panasqueira are now producing very good specimens. We have gone from a period of scarcity to the current wealth, but in my opinion we are in a transitory period that may end when the mine goes to different areas. So far several pieces as this zoned crystal of Fluorapatite, isolated and well placed on its matrix of Quartz and Muscovite, have been recovered.
