I do love the MIM collection. It contains minerals of great aesthetics but it also includes minerals of great scientific interest.
We also have many Bolivian specimens in our collection, and many may not be the best looking rocks in existence but they have lots of scientific interest such as Cylindrite.

The crystals have a beautiful metallic and chatoyant blue color resulting from interference phenomena between the underlying azurite, the thin layer of malachite which has formed on it, and a thin layer of azurite which has later formed on the latter. I just love the MIM in Beirut. It has such an outstanding collection of minerals which is testimony to the genius of its creator – Salim Edde.
MIM is one of the best examples out there to show that private Museums can outperform the public ones in a proverbial heartbeat.
My partner and I will always support private collections over public ones any day.
Keep up the great work MIM.

Stack of golden-colored diamond-shaped crystals on a friable clay matrix. Vermiculite results from the leaching out of potassium from original phlogopite, transforming it into clay. It is a very common industrial material which occurs very rarely in crystals, and is used to replace asbestos for fireproofing and insulation. Vermiculite is sometimes nicknamed "cat’s gold" because its color can be confused with that of gold, and it is used as litter for cats.

Truly a fantastic Malachite. Many of the Malachite specimens from the Mindingi Mine also display the same degree of Chatoyancy but it is hard to capture in a photo. The quality of the MIM specimens add much weight to my belief that money buys the best and this hobby is about acquiring the best.

Elegant sheaf of slender transparent crystals with a beautiful red-pink color, and perfectly terminated main crystals. Crystals of such size and transparency are unusual for this species. | What an amazing piece, I first thought this was a rubellite! I guess this is the first time in my 30 years of collecting minerals that I find a väyrynenite aesthetic. And not only aesthetic, this is a real stunner of incredible size and perfect aesthetics. Maybe the best väyrynenite ever found? For sure something most of us haven't seen before and won't see again - a striking and unique masterpiece!
Thanks for sharing these treasures, best regards
Tobi
