About two or three weeks ago I received a message from a dealer who wrote that he was making a new label for my Pyromorphite from France which I had posted on October 6, 2021. The location information that I had posted in October was the information that I was given and it was not correct. Tobias was correct about the location and Jordi had corrected other misinformation included in that post.

Very lovely photo. As II often say, keep uploading the close-up shots. They provide so much information about the character and origin of a mineral.

I guess it's from the open pit mining near Lethbridge. I don't collect fossils but I've heard of that locality in Alberta which seems to produce some really outstanding pieces like that one from your collection and even greater things like a Mosasaur fossil earlier this year.
Is the surface that lustrous by nature or are these specimens polished?

Hello Tobi,
Thank you for your nice comment about the ammolite. If I remember correctly, the dealer that I bought this from told me that the ammolites are coated with a clear epoxy resin.
Don

A really lovely specimen, along with some great photos.
I have often considered uploading a few fossil photos but I do not know if they would be considered minerals. I know they are composed of rock and Calcite.
Anyway a fine contribution - keep up the good work.

Thank you for your nice comment, Silvia. The ammonite shell has calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite and calcite.
Regards,
Don
