Bockenrod is by far not as famous as Wolf Mine which is THE classic German rhodo locality (and which was before the great rhodo discoveries in Colorado, South Africa and Peru maybe the best and most famous locality for this mineral in the world). And for sure, most people would not consider the often rather pale-pink botryoidal crusts as beautiful as the vivid-red crystals from Wolf. But nonetheless I love the specimens from Bockenrod, maybe because it lies in my "home land" Hesse.
And these rhodochrosites are really old finds: Mining in Bockenrod began in the 1880s and ended around 1924/25. So the specimen was mined at least 98 and maybe a hundred or more years ago which makes it even more interesting.
Regards
Tobi

And another new find (2021) from Morocco that I could find in our Master Jordi's shop, a beautiful rubellite crystal from Beni Bouzra.
According to Jordi, this sample has been referenced and pictured in the magazine 'Le Règne Minéral' no. 166, July-August 2022, page 51. This makes it even more precious to me because I'm not used to have published specimens in my collection, this is the second one :-)

Love the rubellite, Tobi. Good color saturation and cute little sidecar crystal.

Michael Shaw wrote: | Love the rubellite, Tobi. Good color saturation and cute little sidecar crystal. Michael | Thank you Michael. Indeed a really nice piece from Beni Bouzra, here's an additional photo of the termination, I like the small perfect triangular crystal face in the middle. And Jordi was so kind to send me the page from Le Règne Minéral where the piece was shown.
Maybe the perfect time to thank Jordi for being such a kind and diligent dealer. He's always so accurate and he provides everything you need about a specimen, in this case I even got an analysis of the Beni Bouzra tourmaline material verified as elbaite. Thank you Jordi for being such a luminary of the mineral world :-)
Best regards
Tobi

The next specimen is smaller and more elegant, a nice quartz cluster from Colombia. The specimen is a complete floater, the whole bottom consists of crystal tips, including those from the double-terminated main crystals. A lovely quartz sculpture :-)

But I'm not going to purchase any other specimen that heavy anymore.
