Dear readers of Mineral Up
The new issue of Mineral Up is now available. You'll find it in our booth (A6.748) in the Munich Mineral Show.
This is a special edition, because we celebrate the tenth anniversary of our magazine. We have made some improvements like more pages, a thicker paper, a better protection varnish on it, more color photos, and as usual, interesting contents.
You can read in this edition an interesting article about some uncommon minerals like karibibite, tooleite, schneiderhöhnite, paraguanajuatite and others, found in a very small abandoned mine, Nuestra Señora de las Alcantarillas mine, in the Cordova Province, Spain.
The authors are Christian Rewitzer, Ruper Hochleitner, Thomas Fehr and Carlos Utrera.
As you see in the superb photos of Christian Rewitzer, a real master of photomicrography, these uncommon minerals occur in nice colorful aggregates and crystals.
Michael G. Shaw offers his accurate point of view in the Tucson report, and he guides us through the jungle of minerals that is this crazy set of shows.
Stephanie Snyder makes us think about an interesting aspect, asking some collectors about the question: Do you collect for fun? It is worth reading these opinions that, probably will make us better understand our hobby.
Finally, Miguel Calvo, writes about a new locality in Oliva de Plasencia, Caceres province, Spain, for cuttable gem pink quartz.

I want to dedicate some words to the friends who have made this magazine possible for the last 10 years. Friends who have always been at our side, with their helpful opinions, their encouraging words, sincere support, spending generously of their time, good friends, to whom we can never be sufficiently grateful, and who really, dear readers, have made possible what seemed could not be.

How does one obtain copies of the magazine?

Joaquim Callén, the editor, tells us that due to his moving to a new address, he won't be able to handle the shipment of the copy for a while. He will let us know once he has settled down.
