PostPosted: Apr 22, 2024 04:27    Post subject: In memoriam - George Robinson, a man of science, passed away

George Robinson died on April 14th at his home in New York. He was an example for all, and honestly, it deeply moves me to narrate the losses of those who built the splendor of mineralogy since the last century, which we now benefit from. Without people like George, the world is darker and wilder. He was a man of Science and, above all, a good person.

Rest in peace, George; your legacy is immense. In a way, we all carry it with us along with our passion for the minerals.
My deepest condolences to his wife, Susan Robinson, a regular FMF member who was also 'his voice' on this forum (see, for example: What a curator's job involves )

To learn more about George's work: Dr. George W Robinson (1946 – 2024)

Rest in peace, George. Your excellent book on the formation of minerals has been a great source of helpful information for me for many years.

Knew George for many years...still have a cute Thunder Bay amethyst I got from them back when they were digging and dealing.

Didn't know about the Ragtime though...LOVE it!

One by one time marches on...we'll miss you George
