Tobi,
Nice Viesca fluorite and very cool phantom quartz. Both great additions to your collection.

Hi guys,
thanks for your comments. I'm really in love with my new Spanish fluorite and I just found some time to make my own photos, I think the specimen deserves this little lovestory ;-) Thanks again, Jordi, for a true new highlight :-)
Regards
Tobi

Jordi's beautiful label. And Jordi would not be Jordi without a nice personal note on the label or on the invoice. I told him before that I was searching for a HIGHLIGHT for my collection - and so he wrote this on the backside :-) |

A very fine specimen of Fluorite, and from a first-rate supplier of fine minerals. That Fabre chap has some really fine specimens for sale and I am always looking at his vault for new acquisitions.

A lovely little quartz and siderite specimen from Grube Büchenberg, an old iron mine in Harz Mountains that was closed in 1970. Comes from an older collection.

Two other quartz additions:
Mineral: | Quartz |
Locality: | Hyderabad District, Telangana, India
|
Dimensions: | Crystal size 8,5 cm |
Description: |
Nice phantom quartz from a new find (I think 2021) in India. The crystal is completely clear and pristine and shows an incredible phantom of tiny reddish particles, I've heard it could be hematite. Quite large one for the locality. |

Mineral: | Quartz |
Locality: | Araçuaí, Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais, Brazil
|
Dimensions: | Crystal size 13 cm |
Description: |
A translucent to transparent quartz crystal that looks like an "ordinary" smoky quartz in normal daylight, but the backlight reveals the colour so you could call it a citrine. The light behind is white (not yellow!), the inner colour you see on the photo is very close to how it really looks when backlit. |

Again a quartz, this time a very small one from Germany:
Mineral: | Quartz |
Locality: | Miehlen, Nastätten, Rhein-Lahn-Kreis, Lahn Valley, Rhineland-Palatinate/Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
|
Dimensions: | Crystal size 2,7,cm |
Description: |
A small but water-clear rock crystal from Miehlen quarry in Rhineland-Palatinate. The bottom is re-crystallized and consists of many small crystal tips which makes this cute little specimen a floater. |

And another quartz, a little bit larger than the last one ;-)
Mineral: | Quartz |
Locality: | Minas Gerais, Brazil
|
Dimensions: | Crystal size 18,5 cm |
Description: |
Large cluster of translucent to transparent quartz, featuring an 18,5 cm main crystal and with a lot of smaller crystals (1 - 10 cm) attached. And inside there are some dark grey inclusions of an unknown mineral, maybe hematite. |

My last addition in 2022 - not a quartz! ;-)
But an impressive and lovely 18 cm plate of endlichite from Morocco, I immediately fell in love with this piece though endlichite was never on my wish list. But specimens like this may change or enhance a wish list:

Beautiful - I have quartz from Brazil as necklace pendant, but not polished. :) However, there is a hole in it to be able to use it as a necklace.

I think different of this, if a specimen is good and appeals to me it does not matter if there's plenty of it. And I fell in love with this specimen because it is large and massive, rather clear, without damage and because the inclusions make it somehow special. Other advanced collectors may think this is just a rather boring Brazilian standard quartz, but I love it as an addition to my quartz collection :-)

It was one of this year's surprises that I added a vanadinite of this type. I never liked them that much (the red ones from Mibladen, yes, but not these from Touissit) but this specimen is better than others I have seen. The quality and condition of the crystals (they're often pale and weathered, but in this case really yellowish and well-defined, though not very large) combined with the size of the specimen made it a love at first sight specimen for me. And love at first sight can be, beyond objective factors, a good decision guidance in collecting :-)

My first specimen 2023, and believe it or not, it is neither a quartz nor a fluorite ;-)
I'm also a fan of rhodochrosite, but good rhodochrosites are hard to get, so I was really happy to discover something from my wish list in our Master Jordi's shop - a small but very beautiful piece of rhodochrosite from the famous Capillitas deposit in Argentina. This little specimen is the end piece of a stalactite. I was searching quite long for a Capillitas piece but nice ones are not easy to find and I wanted such an end piece, not a slice. Once again, Jordi Fabre has exactly what you are looking for :-)
Mineral: | Rhodochrosite |
Locality: | Capillitas Mine, Andalgalá Department, Catamarca, Argentina

Dimensions: | 2,5 cm in diameter |
