I'm quite sure it IS from West Fork Mine. I have a West Fork galena specimen that has exactly the same crystals, quite distinctive material for that mine (though also "normal" cubes occur there).

I have been working on a comprehensive collection of Viburnum Trend Calcite. Over the next few days I will share some of my pieces.
The mines of the Viburnum Trend from North to South are:

Thanks Pete! More to come. That Brushy Creek twin is debatable. It's one you'd have to handle to be sure of. The etching complicates identification.

If you mean the image Brushy Creek 3, already posted, I would agree that it appears to be a twin. I would say it is a twin on {0001} (of course with the standard caution that it's hard to tell from a single photo); {0001} is probably the most common kind of twin. I think the specimen is more interesting for its etched overall form; the twinning is kind of an extra treat!

Ed, your collection of calcites is incredibly beautiful, thank you so much for presenting them in such good pictures! Hard to pick a favourite among these beauties, but to me, the one from Fletcher Mine (Fletcher Mine.JPG) is the greatest of these great specimens. I guess the combination with galena makes it my special favourite ;-)
I hope you'll show us a lot more of these treasures :-)

Yes, that's the one I am referring too. The {001} twins were much more common there than {012}, which to my knowledge is the only other occurrence in the Viburnum Trend.

This is one specimen I've been asking around about and have not yet found an answer. I've noticed some of the No. 29 Mine Calcites are labeled as "Czar Drift." In fact, the two that I have seen, this one being one of them, includes a Jim's Minerals label, from the Boron, CA show. My question is, are those specimens labeled "Czar Drift" part of the same big-cavern 1995 find in No. 29 Mine? They look identical, but I want to be sure. I have also not been able to find any reports of the No. 29 Mine discovery, which shocked me since it was so significant. Thanks in advance for any further knowledge on this!

Very nice specimens, especially of the various calcite habits.
One long running question about the Viburnum Trend specimens involves the multicolored iridescent chalcopyrite. Your last picture shows a few gold colored examples next to the galena and calcite. Many collectors and dealers say that the vast majority of these specimens are either enhanced or fabricated with a very brief acid soaking of non-iridescent crystals. Other collectors and dealers say that while you can enhance the iridescence, most good specimens are, in fact, natural. The very very brief soaking seems not to affect the calcites, dolomites and other minerals.
All that I know is that there are both opinions, the specimens are colorful, relatively affordable and very commonly out there in the mineral marketplace. BOB
